Had any interesting shower thoughts lately?

The shower is where I do a lot of my thinking. New ideas, plans, washing away the troubles of the day. I’ll even use the shower as a form of meditation and often imagine any problems, and even physical ailments washing down the drain with the water. I find it so helpful for starting my day in the right frame of mind, or going to sleep ready to restore and refresh. I sleep very well, so I like to think that my night-time shower routine plays a big part in that.

What’s your relationship with water?

Water is very therapeutic for me. I’m a Pisces and water is my reset. If I feel sad, sick, in pain, tired or stuck, or after a long day, water is my safe space and where I restore.

What’s one thing you think society overvalues?

There are many things I think society overvalues, but for me it's the emphasis we tend to place on productivity, time-saving hacks and glorifying busyness  often comes at the cost of good health, nervous system regulation, and the ability to find joy in the simplicity of a slightly slower, less “productive” life.

What does the word wellbeing mean to you?

Wellbeing encompasses so much more than what we eat or how often we exercise. Our food, movement and things like supplements are important, they’re often prioritised at the expense of things that are just as essential. Wellbeing is also shaped by our nervous system, our relationships, our pace of life and our sense of connection. When those areas are overlooked, it’s hard for the body to genuinely feel well.

If you could change one thing about your daily routine, what would it be?

I would love for our family dinner routine to improve. We all know how it is — the busyness of the day, after-school activities, cooking dinner, cleaning up, getting everyone ready for the next day, maybe some work that still needs to be done.

I love beautiful food, a calm dinner time, trying new foods, favourite meals we all enjoy, knowing my family is nourished before they rest for the night, chatting at the table about our day. But life doesn’t really allow for that a lot of the time.

A goal of mine for this year is to prioritise this more, even if it’s just a couple of nights a week to start with.

When was the last time you felt truly inspired?

I’ll often feel really inspired watching my kids put themselves out there — making a new friend or trying something new. I can see on their faces how hard it feels for them, but they do it anyway. Seeing their courage in those small moments is incredibly inspiring, and I genuinely call on that when I’m doing something challenging and think, if they can do it, so can I.
